Blue MacAskill is a Visual Artist, Filmmaker, Photographer and Writer. She is based in Mid Wales. Blue has worked with Film Agency Wales, Powys Carers and Flux gallery, NYC. She works all over Europe and Internationally. She is CRB checked and registered art and craft tutor in Wales. Recently she gave a talk for ARTAXIS and SAFLE in Cardigan about PublicArt and the commissioning process. She works in film, print, sculpture and digital arts. Walking with Artists This summer take advantage of this great opportunity to not only walk in the stunning landscape of the Wye Valley but join artists exploring landscape and environment in their artworks and make a piece of sculpture or poetry inspired by your group and your walk. Blue MacAskill: / 01597 860 127 JOIN US ON TWITTER AND FACEBOOK " MOCACYMRU " get involved! >> The Inner Picture Exhibition at The Rhayader Art Gallery and Museum till 21st June 2010 Through funding by Powys's Chance to Create | Cyfle i Greu grant scheme; artist Blue MacAskill partnered up with the arts organisation CARAD to produce an exhibition about the work Blue has done in Powys over the last 5 months. Working with young people, interviewing, running courses and workshops, making work about their life, issues and experiences as well as hopes for the future. The centre of the exhibit will be a special film made by the young people, supported by the artist. "The Inner Picture" - When youth speaks for itself. . . is a dynamic exhibition and wide-reaching programme of workshops that focuses on the issues and situations of our young people in Powys today: What are their choices? What do they do with their free time? How do they see their future? The exhibition at Rhayader Museum and Gallery will feature, film, photography, painting, poetry and print work made by a group of 15 young people from Mid Powys supported through the project by artist and film-maker Blue MacAskill. Blue MacAskill graduated from Ruskin School of Fine Art and Drawing and continued her studies with an MA in Film and Sculpture from Wimbledon School of Art. She has recently finished a residency at The National Library of Wales where she was nominated for a Lottery Exhibition and Education Award. In 2006 Blue was the Artist for the Swansea Eisteddfod based at The National Waterfront Museum. Blue works in the medium of film, photography and print. She lives and works in Newbridge on Wye, Powys; improving access to high quality contemporary visual art in Powys is a priority for her continued community work in the county.
