I am a Textile Artist working mainly in felt and live on a small farm in the hills around Llanerfyl, where I keep alpacas & a few sheep. The fibre from my animals is used in some of my work along with other hand dyed yarns, threads and fabrics. I am also a dressmaker and utilise these skills in my textile work to make structured pieces. My Studio is a log cabin on the edge of the garden overlooking the hills.
My inspiration comes from the colours, shapes and textures around me, and a lot of my pieces are 'one offs' as I love to experiment with different materials.
I occasionally run workshops in felting at the Minerva Centre in Llanidloes & also go out to groups to teach.
I am a director of Wonderwool Wales, the premier wool & natural fibre festival in Wales, held at the Royal Welsh Showground in Builth Wells every April, and take care of the majority of the organising for the event.
I also run the Artisans' Emporium in Llanidloes at The Minerva Centre, which is a pop up gallery containing the work of 15/16 artists / crafts persons from Powys & Ceredigion. The event runs throughout May in 2016 but will be running throughout July from 2017 onwards. The event will be stewarded by myself and the artists involved.
