I produce oil pastel or mixed media paintings which focus on the landscape of south and mid Wales. What interests me is the impact of man on landscape, whether by early man, farming or industrialisation. I seek out places which have a bleak beauty and my treatment of these landscapes is deeply influenced by their industrial past. I strive to portray a "sense of place" and atmosphere. I often include a prominent figure in my landscapes; usually portrayed as solitary and contemplative, their body language informs the mood, as does my muted and limited colour palette.
I studied at St Albans College of Art and Design and the London College of Printing. Following a successful 25-year career as a graphic design consultant, I returned to my artistic roots in 2006, re-discovering my skills in fine art. I now exhibit regularly.
I exhibit at The Old Chapel Gallery, Pembridge, Herefordshire, and Fountain Fine Art, Llandeilo, Carmarthenshire.
