I work as an environmental sculptor in a wide range of media. Physical materials are important to me and I am interested in their ability to embody and express ideas. My work includes exhibitions, commissions, residencies and educational workshops.
Water has often been the focus of my work, exploring its properties, behaviour and associated ideas. Although more recent work refers to a sense of disconnection and displacement, there is always an underlying reference to landscape.
I recently made a new body of work for an exhibition at Newport Gallery and Museum in September 2009, shared with Bill Swann, a glass artist from North Wales, and supported by grants from the Arts Council of Wales. Called The Circle Squared, the emphasis was on glass although other materials were also used.
