Corinna Kenyon-Wade

Having first trained as a painter, I worked as a stone and wall painting conservator before completing an HND in Studio Ceramics in 2002.

I aim to make finely thrown, functional pots in simple shapes, from stoneware and porcelain clays. Currently I am developing a palette of colours using the Chinese celadon glaze as a base, ranging from subtle blue green to vibrant citrus and lilac. Interaction of clay and glaze adds to the character of a pot; while porcelain keeps colours bright, grey stoneware mutes the glaze and flecks it with iron. A pot suggests a glaze and a glaze a pot, and the work quietly evolves.

The work is fired in a gas kiln.
