Cat Weatherill

'Cat is one of our great storytellers' Michael Morpurgo Cat is one of the busiest and best loved storytellers in the UK. She studied Drama at University and has been a professional performer ever since. She began her career as an actor and a singer, and she incorporates this training into her storytelling. She has a playful approach to her art and loves to explore the emotional response that comes from an audience, whether they are roaring with laughter (Bawdy Stories) moved to tears (Pebbles and Pennies) or on their feet, howling with excitement (Sir Gawain) Cat's cinematic, sensual style means she is constantly in demand across the UK and Europe. No venue is too large, too small or too strange for her... Cat loves ghost stories and is frequently invited to perform in unusual venues! Cat is also the most successful storyteller on the National Rural Touring circuit, regularly taking shows to village audiences around the UK. Her European festival appearances for 2010 include Austria, Belgium, the Netherlands and Ireland. In previous years she has performed at the prestigious Festival d'Automne in Paris, the Singapore Storytelling Festival, the Barbican and all the major UK literature festivals. Cat works both as a solo performer and with fellow storytellers and musicians. In 2009 she joined the ten-piece folk band Bellowhead to create a family show for the South Bank Centre in London. She is currently touring with the acoustic duo Emma and the Professor. Cat is also a successful children's author with three novels published by Puffin. She has also written for adults on primetime Radio 4. Cat will tell stories to ADULTS and CHILDREN. She also offers STAFF TRAINING WORKSHOPS in storytelling for librarians, teachers and the general public. ** PLEASE NOTE Cat is an A-list storyteller but her fees are generally affordable. Generous funding is available to venues and schools in Wales c/o Academi and Night Out. Please ask Cat for details. She is always happy to talk!
