My work evolves in a contemporary space, where ideas encounter the material processes of labour intensive handwork and industry. Extrapolating from subjective personal experiences and diverse cultures, I investigate the micro and macrocosms of emotive fibres through knot, stitch, knit, weave, net, placement and video.
Using found and forgotten objects/fibres and fabric manipulation, works are created with metaphorical associations, evoking emotional responses through a materially led practice.
My source materials hair, wood, lace, silk tulle, needles and thread are rooted at the foundations of domestic culture and an industrial economy. However, combining oppositional qualities amongst works highlights and questions issues of our existence, sexuality and time, whereby formulating spherical relationships that are to be decoded.
