Nicky Arscott is a figurative painter and illustrator. She recently returned to the UK after completing a Masters in Creative Writing in Austin, Texas. This period of study encouraged the development of the narrative within much of her visual art. As well as working from her studio in Llanbrynmair, Nicky spends two months a year creating images and decor for the Glastonbury Festival of Performing Arts, where she works alongside WaterAid.
Nicky grew up in Ledbury, Herefordshire. Her father was brought up in South America and her mother is half Spanish. Due to her heritage she spent much of her childhood visiting Catalunia in Spain. During these visits she fell in love with the works of Picasso, T?pies and Vel?zquez. Other influences include Edward Piper and Egon Schiele. Nicky works to commission as well as on her own projects, which currently include putting together an exhibition entitled 'Catalonia' as well as publishing a series of illustrated poems in an American journal.
