Basketmaking, willow garden structures & regular creative willow classes

Mary Zammit
I am a professional basketmaker and teacher. I work individually designed baskets and garden structures with an emphasis on both form and function, drawing on techniques from English, Welsh and French traditions.

I run workshops and regular classes teaching traditional willow working techniques for  basketmaking, garden structures and sculpture, and the use of willow and hedgerow materials as a creative medium. Students are encouraged to explore a wide range of techniques and are supported in pursuing their individual areas of interest. Materials are provided but students are most welcome to bring home grown or wild gathered material to broaden their experience.

I work with arts organisations (Arts Alive, Take pART) and charities (Parkinsons Society, MIND), and have taught regularly for Coleg Powys and WEA Cymru. I have completed recent commissions for Powys County Council (Green Heart of Wales) and Talgarth Mill (Go with the Flow).
